Creation of Mammalian Organism from Unicellular Organism's Cells

Published 2024-11-25

Researchers from Queen Mary University of London have accomplished an extraordinary scientific feat. Utilizing the SOX2 gene from the unicellular organism, Choanoflagellates, which is related to animals, the research team replaced the mouse SOX2 gene with the one from Choanoflagellates. This gene was then added to mouse embryonic stem cells, resulting in a viable organism. The pertinence of this experiment appears to point to the verification of the evolutionary leap from unicellular organisms to multicellular organisms.
