Directed Neurogenesis with Synthetic Antibodies

Published 2024-05-03

Researchers from the University of Toronto have developed a novel approach to direct brain neurogenesis towards Dopamine Neuron differentiation which was recently published in the journal Development. This approach utilized sythetic antibodies to modulat the Wnt signaling pathway. This direct Wnt stimulation allowed midbrain neuronal stem cells to preferenatially differentiate into dopaminergic neurons. The transplantation of these neurons in a rodent model sucessfully resuced induced Parkinson's Disease locomotor deficits.
